Thumbs Up to Relief

While not true for everyone, many people first visit a chiropractor because they are in pain. So the first priority and the main goal in this first phase of care is to reduce your symptoms. Sometimes this will require two-three visits per week — or even daily visits — for a period of time until symptoms are reduced.

Unfortunately, pain is a very poor indicator of health — most people assume that if they don’t feel any pain, then they are healthy and have nothing wrong with them. In reality, pain and other symptoms frequently appear only after a disease or other condition has become advanced.

For example, think about the last time you had a tooth cavity. Did it hurt when it first developed, or only after it had become serious? Regardless of whether you’re talking about dental issues, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, stress, or other spinal problems, pain is usually the last thing to appear.

When you begin chiropractic care, pain is also the first symptom to disappear, even though much of the underlying condition remains.

Testimonial

I was told I needed to see a surgeon for my shoulder rotator cuff tear. After seeing Dr. Harlan, I can lift my arm up above my head again without pain. Thank you.
